In 2014, our founder Jeanine made the decision to create Furever Homes Dog Rescue of SETX to focus on the needs of the dogs.
Furever Homes Dog Rescue of SETX has come a long way since its founding. In 2017, Jeanine expanded the rescue’s transport efforts to include Canadian adoptions, bringing our first rescue to Canada in March of that year. Since then, the rescue has grown to include a dedicated team of volunteers and fosters both in Texas and Atlantic Canada. Together, we've saved and placed 1,000’s of puppies and dogs with loving families since 2014.
Currently, we care for at least 200 dogs at any given time. With no shelter facility, we rely heavily on our network of dedicated foster families to help care for and save as many dogs as possible. Without these compassionate fosters, many of these dogs wouldn't have the chance at a better life.
Most of our adoptions are to families in Atlantic Canada, where we work closely with CFIA and CBSA to ensure we meet or exceed all guidelines for importing pets into Canada. Our team transports dogs to their new homes once a month. We've transported as many as 80 dogs in one month, and in 2024, we successfully brought 577 dogs to their forever homes.
