The Colorado Community College System (CCCS) is in the business of transforming lives, families, and communities, driving economic and social mobility. We offer thousands of career-connected programs that lead to high-skill, high-wage jobs so anyone, regardless of age, income level, ethnicity, or previous achievements, can better their life, build or switch careers, earn a livable wage, and contribute to the growth of Colorado’s economy. We serve the fastest growing student population – those with limited economic resources, ethnic and racial minorities, refugees, veterans, working parents, first generation students, and others who are not well served at traditional four-year institutions.
CCCS is made up of 13 colleges with over 35 locations across the state, educating over 114,000 students every year. As the state’s largest provider of post-secondary education and training, CCCS is committed to providing open access to higher education. While the low cost of full-time tuition makes community college by far the most accessible education available to Colorado residents, CCCS students have a high level of financial need, with nearly 50% of students qualifying for federal financial aid. Of our student body, 96% are Colorado residents, 44% are first generation, 28% are adult learners, 39% are Pell eligible. We serve 41% of all resident undergraduate students of color in Colorado.
The Foundation for Colorado Community Colleges (Foundation) supports all aspects of CCCS and is committed to CCCS’s goal of being an education system without equity gaps. Annually the Foundation awards more than $500,000 in scholarships to 300+ students statewide, and distributes nearly $1 million in additional scholarship funding to our 13 colleges to be awarded at the college level. In recent years, the Foundation has helped advance CCCS priorities including reaching and serving adult learners and skill-builders, credit for prior learning, financial literacy, advising and navigation, expanding the dental hygiene workforce, and piloting a workforce scholars program that will break down the stigma associated with two-year degrees and promote career and economic opportunities through workforce pathways.
