### Core Programs & Initiatives
**1. Educational Fishing & Environmental Clinics**
We host hands-on fishing and environmental education events across Florida, especially targeting underprivileged youth, veterans, and families. These events provide participants with:
* Free fishing equipment and bait
* On-site instruction from licensed fishing captains and marine biologists
* Lessons in species identification, water safety, casting techniques, and conservation practices
* Take-home guides on ethical fishing, catch-and-release, and protecting native species
************************************************************************************************************************
These clinics are more than recreational—they are life-changing educational experiences that foster a love for nature, self-reliance, and respect for Florida’s fragile aquatic ecosystems.

**2. Conservation & Invasive Species Removal**
Florida faces increasing threats from invasive marine species, like the lionfish, which damage coral reefs and native fish populations. How We Fish Florida actively organizes and supports initiatives to:
************************************************************
* Safely remove invasive species
* Educate the public on identification and proper reporting
* Support coral reef restoration projects and artificial reef initiatives
*************************************************************
**3. Florida Guardian Award**
To recognize outstanding contributions to marine conservation, we launched the *Florida Guardian Award*—an annual honor given to individuals, nonprofits, educators, and environmental leaders who go above and beyond in protecting Florida’s waterways. This prestigious award shines a spotlight on unsung heroes in our environmental community and encourages continued public engagement.

**4. Media & Public Awareness**
Through our *How We Fish Florida TV Network*, the first 24-hour fishing and aquatic conservation channel in the state, we aim to reach millions with engaging, educational content. Programs range from cooking freshly caught fish and eco-friendly seafood sourcing, to documentaries about Florida’s threatened species and live fishing adventures. As the “PBS of Fishing,” our media serves as a bridge between education and entertainment. To launch 4th quarter 2025

**5. Veterans & Special Needs Outreach**
We strongly believe in the healing power of nature. Our fishing excursions for veterans and people with special needs offer therapeutic recreation, mental wellness support, and a chance to connect with others who have faced adversity. These programs reduce isolation, promote healthy lifestyles, and empower individuals through skill-building and personal achievement.

* Strong partnerships with local schools, community centers
### Why We Fish – Our Philosophy
Fishing is more than a sport—it’s a gateway to understanding our natural world. It teaches patience, responsibility, self-sufficiency, and environmental ethics. For many of the people we serve, especially children in underserved communities, it's a first-time experience that fosters confidence and wonder. At How We Fish Florida, we use fishing as a tool to reconnect people with nature, encourage sustainable lifestyles, and protect the incredible biodiversity of the Sunshine State.
**********************************************************************************************************************
### Ways to Support
As a registered nonprofit, we rely on grants, donations, sponsorships, and community partnerships. Every dollar we raise helps us:
* Host more free clinics and fishing events
* Produce high-quality educational media
* Expand invasive species removal efforts
* Provide rods, reels, life jackets, and gear to those in need

Whether you're an individual donor, corporate sponsor, or conservation partner, your support helps build a better, more sustainable Florida for all.
