Homeword strengthens Montana communities by teaching homebuyer education and financial skill building and creating safe, healthy homes people can afford.

As the cost of renting and buying continues to increase at an alarming rate compared to incomes, we develop income-restricted homes that are within reach. They are high-quality, sustainably-built homes our residents are proud to live in and communities are proud to support.

Since Homeword began in 1994, we have developed or preserved 1,704 homes for more than 2,100 Montanans, including 600 children. These homes are located in 35 locations in 14 cities and towns throughout the state. We developed 27 of these homes for homeownership.

We’ve also empowered more than 21,500 people through our Regional HomeOwnership Center’s programming since 1997. Our educators provide classes and individual counseling to members of the workforce, seniors on fixed incomes, people with disabilities, domestic violence survivors, veterans and parents.

We bring this holistic approach to our work throughout the state and advocate for policies that create sustainable communities for all. Our communities are stronger when everyone can afford a safe and healthy home.
