SERJobs, a community-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1965, is a leader in workforce development and dedicated to building a high quality, high performance workforce to individuals, businesses and communities along the Texas Gulf Coast.

Each client receives a personalized combination of the following services: Service Navigation, Assessments, Career Coaching, Career Exploration, Job Readiness Training, Occupational Training, Financial Education and Coaching, Employer Engagement, Job Placement Assistance, and Follow Up/Retention Services – all at no cost to the client.

With the use of a comprehensive service strategy and strength-based coaching model, SER empowers youth (16-24), disenfranchised adults (25+), veterans, ex-offenders, the homeless, and other in-need individuals with the knowledge, skills, resources, and support needed to overcome barriers to employment and obtain long-term financial stability.

SERJobs Mission and Relevant History:

SERJobs (SER) exists to help individuals from low-income communities to transform their lives through education, training, employment, and financial empowerment services.

SER was founded by the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) and the American G.I. Forum in partnership with the U.S. Department of the Navy to provide job information and job referrals in the community.

Over the past 60 years, SER has evolved in response to changing community and labor market needs, offering classes such as ESL, GED, and as a Business Training Center for computer training in the 1980s. Today, SER is a leader in community-based occupational training and employment services. As a partner with local high schools, colleges, and community based organizations, SER is renowned for providing quality, life-changing services to disenfranchised populations by educating and training low-income individuals through a breadth of services with employment and financial empowerment at its core.
