CHARLESTON AREA THERAPEUTIC RIDING INC

Since establishment in 1991, CATR’s purpose has been to provide quality therapeutic riding sessions. Seven Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH Intl.) certified instructors, 150 volunteers, and ten horses work together to serve over 150 students each year in a variety of specialized programs.

All of CATR’s programs provide an exceptional opportunity for individuals to move beyond their disabilities to find accomplishment through riding and interacting with horses. A child who is non-verbal is motivated to speak his first words. A wounded military veteran regains strength and lost mobility from the horse’s steady gait. A special education student gets much needed exercise and acquires new motor skills, and all experience the joy, freedom and empowerment of the horse’s movement!
