LOCKPORT CARES INC

Since 2009, Lockport CARES has opened its doors to families at risk including men, women, veterans, and families with children who find themselves in need of emergency shelter, material needs, and compassionate care with dignity and respect. Guests are allowed to stay up to 15 business days during which time they meet with our Care Manager to assess their needs and develop solutions. They are encouraged to participate in the Living Well Program which teaches life skills including cooking, nutrition, budgeting and more. CARES coordinates services with human resource agencies including the local pregnancy center, substance abuse centers, the Veterans Affairs and Department of Social Services. We have
recently added a pilot program for up to 4 additional weeks for a few individuals who are waiting for imminent permanent housing and/or their first paycheck for a security deposit and first month’s rent.
