HAVEN AT SKANDA
Cazenovia, New YorkThe Haven at Skanda supports love, hope, and possibilities for rescued farm animals and all people, especially children. The Haven at Skanda takes in rescued farm animals from all over the country and provides them with the support they need to recover from severe abuse and neglect and emerge as who they really are. Skanda is dedicated to supporting children, and our trauma-informed, anti-bullying curriculum provides children ages 3-18 with life-changing connections with Skanda's loving animals while also teaching mindfulness, peaceful conflict resolution, and leadership skills. Skanda also supports Veterans, survivors of violence, people experiencing grief and loss, and anyone seeking a connection with animals, nature, and community. Skanda has a robust volunteer program; public education workshops throughout the year; youth programs including Girls Leadership, Boys Support, LGBTQ Youth Peer Support, Summer at Skanda farm camp; prevention and outreach programs including the Horses for the Holidays equine program; personal retreats in Skanda's Barn Apartment in the horse barn; silent retreats on the farm; contemplative arts like yoga and meditation; and special events.
