G I Josie, Inc. provides non-clinical therapies to women veterans, and their children, who are recovering from Military Sexual Trauma and PTSD as a result of their service in the US Military. All of the programs offered provide our veterans with life skills and emotional tools they need to face their day. Many of our women veterans carry painful, invisible wounds that torture them with symptoms that keep them from enjoying the joys of life - Josie's goal is to not only provide our women and their children with the tools they need to make them feel safe but also to afford them the ability to leave their traumas behind while they enjoy the love of a horse or the healing power of the ocean, learning how to protect themselves when their personal boundaries are breached, immersing themselves into creative writing or learning to heal through laughter, to name a few - all designed to provide a respite from the haunting traumas that keep our women veterans prisoners to the pain.
Our long term goal is to create a working transitional ranch community on which our women veterans and their children can live. They will be able to access a majority of the programs 24/7/365 - when they need it most, not just when it is convenient. Further, the intrinsic power of a vet healing a vet cannot be overstated. The lifelong bonds our women veterans form as they work together to heal is a beautiful example of their desire to see their sisters thrive. GI Josie affords the safe and secure space to heal; the women make it happen.
