ESH provides transitional housing for homeless Veterans for a period of 60 to 90 days. ESH provides transitional housing for homeless Veterans for a period of 60 to 90 days. During the resident’s stay at Eagle Star, they are provided a bedroom which includes a bed, a dresser, a night stand, a lamp and a closet that locks for their personal items. ESH provides a freshly cooked meal for dinner every night for resident’s to eat together in the dining room, and also provides the items necessary for resident’s to prepare their own breakfast and lunch meals. ESH is also responsible for providing transportation for the Veterans to and from the local VA office and any other appointment as documented in their VA case file. ESH also has medication oversight program, where any type of medication whether prescription or over the counter, is stored in a locked medicine cabinet for the Veterans. Each Veteran is provided with their medication when they request it, and ESH Staff provides medication log in their files for the VA to review. No medication is directly dispensed by ESH Staff, only observed. Lastly, Eagle Star Housing provides life skills training for the residents. Life skills training includes but not limited to: budgeting, personal finance management, grocery shopping, hygiene upkeep, apartment hunting, and job searches. In total, ESH has provided over 85,000 safe sleeping nights to over 950 homeless Veterans transition with a success rate of 80% connecting the Veteran to the next appropriate level of care.
Looking forward, ESH is currently developing permanent housing projects for Veterans. The Liberty Square project will feature 55 total apartment units with 28 units dedicated solely for the Veteran population. Liberty Square is projected to open in Batavia, NY in December 2021. The 270 on East project will feature 112 total apartment units with 20 units dedicated solely for the Veteran population. 270 on East in projected to open in April 2021. Each of the Veteran apartment units will be operated by ESH. ESH will provide each Veteran with a furnished apartment, case management services on site and transportation availability for the Veterans use to and from their appointments.
