Our mission is to enhance the well-being of America’s veterans, their families, our military, and our communities by our devotion to mutual helpfulness.
American Legion Orange Baker Post 187's Operation Pride Project is an initiative to uplift veterans and the Spring Hill community through education, training, and beautification by computer literacy, representing equity and inclusion of historically marginalized soldiers through exhibits and memorabilia, and beautifying the post property for veterans and their families.
There is a growing number of veterans who do not have basic computer skills, which keeps them from being able to access their benefits and/or seeking new opportunities. American Legion Orange Baker Post 187 is here to help! If you are in need of digital-skills training, we will provide that service to veterans, dependents, and surviving spouses.
The shaping of The American Legion’s future is achieved through mentorship and leadership. Join our mentoring & training program as we work to build strong leaders!
Frozen Food Distribution is every Tuesday from 10 a.m.- 12 noon.
TRAINING SATURDAYS from 11 a.m.-12noon. on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays for all members of the American Legion family who wish to participate.
CLOTHING CLOSET- We have a clothing closet available for those in need and/or we can give you a referral to a clothing closet with more variety.
GARDENING- We have a Our Veterans Teaching Garden onsite where veterans and the youth can come and learn gardening skills, grow food, and harvest it.
At the Orange Baker Post 187 Historical Museum, we offer engaging and immersive field trips to school groups, providing an educational experience that highlights the history and impact of African-Americans in the Civil War thru the Gulf War. During our field trips, students are led by their teachers and chaperones, exploring our exhibits, interacting with historical artifacts and primary sources, and engaging in interactive activities that encourage critical thinking and discussion. Our exhibits and collections foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of history, and our volunteers are available to answer any questions that may arise.
We also have a mobile museum that will travel to exhibit this historical content.
