Research Grants & Scholarships

von WOUND HEALING FOUNDATION

Wound healing research funding sources are limited in spite of the growing prevalence of wounds in the general population. The WHF intends to fund research that answers key questions about wound healing in order to advance the understanding of mechanisms and improve clinical treatment outcomes.

There is also a continuing need to fund new and established investigators engaged in cutting edge research to generate pilot data leading to new innovations to advance the basic and clinical science of wound healing. The WHF scholarship program recognizes and rewards deserving wound healing researchers by facilitating their attendance at essential wound healing meetings. Participation in these research meetings contributes to important scientific discussions and networking opportunities thereby increasing the quality of the recipient's future research.

Our goal for this program is to award research grants beginning at or above $10,000 and Travel Scholarships range in size from $100-500 dollars. Our funding for the program is dependent upon available yearly donations.

Grants are given dependent on the availability of funds and quality of submissions. Research Grants Submissions focus on three main areas:
Evidence gaps - The WHF is developing grants to enhance basic and clinical research in the wound healing field. Even though wounds have been present for thousands of years, many knowledge and evidence gaps still exist. The purpose of these grants are to assist in improving the evidence base on which wound healing research is based on.

Scientific advancement - The WHF also provides research recognition grants to help assist outstanding researchers in other wound healing areas. The purpose of these grants are to help stimulate and recognize unique areas of wound research that are being performed to further advance the science.

Innovative Grants Program - The WHF is positioned to expand its research program through additional research grants, fellowships and awards. There is a continuing need to fund new and established investigators engaged in cutting edge research to generate pilot data leading to new innovations to advance the basic and clinical science of wound healing.
