Riverside Sunrise Rotary is a nonprofit community service organization committed to creating lasting impact for youth, veterans, seniors, and other vulnerable members of the Riverside community.
For nearly four decades, our members have worked side by side with local schools, nonprofit organizations, veterans programs, senior services, businesses, and community partners to identify needs and respond with practical, compassionate support.
Our service is rooted in a simple belief: people deserve to feel seen, valued, supported, and connected to their community.
We focus much of our work in three primary areas:
Youth
Riverside Sunrise Rotary supports children and teens through leadership development, educational opportunities, school-based assistance, and basic-needs programs.
Our youth projects include providing clothing and school necessities, supporting leadership camps and student service organizations, helping fund enrichment opportunities, and partnering with schools to respond when students lack everyday essentials that can affect their comfort, confidence, or ability to participate fully in school.
We also support programs that encourage young people to develop leadership, service, teamwork, and civic responsibility. Through Rotary-sponsored youth programs and Interact clubs, students are given opportunities to serve others and discover their own ability to make a difference.
Veterans
Serving veterans is one of Riverside Sunrise Rotary’s most significant areas of hands-on service.
We work closely with veterans in our community, including formerly homeless and low-income veterans who are rebuilding their lives. Our members regularly provide nourishing meals, fresh food and pantry supplies, clothing, hygiene products, hydration supplies, and other everyday necessities.
Our support goes beyond providing material items. We believe connection and consistency matter.
Members volunteer directly with veterans, share meals, stock pantry shelves, participate in service activities, and build relationships over time. These personal connections help create a sense of dignity, belonging, and community for veterans who may have experienced homelessness, isolation, financial hardship, or difficult transitions.
We want every veteran we serve to know that their service has not been forgotten and that they remain an important part of our community.
Seniors
Riverside Sunrise Rotary also serves older adults, particularly seniors who may be homebound, socially isolated, or living on limited incomes.
Our projects help provide nourishing food, meals, hydration supplies, hygiene products, and other essential items. We also support opportunities for fellowship and social connection, recognizing that loneliness and isolation can be just as difficult as material hardship.
Our goal is to help seniors maintain dignity, independence, health, and a sense of connection to the community around them.
Hands-On Community Service
Riverside Sunrise Rotary is not simply a grant-making organization. Our members are actively involved in the projects we support.
We prepare and serve meals, purchase and organize supplies, stock food pantries, collect clothing and essential items, volunteer at community events, support students, work with local organizations, and respond when community partners identify an unmet need.
This hands-on approach allows us to understand the people and organizations we serve, build trust, and make sure resources are directed where they can have meaningful impact.
Community Partnerships
Our work is strengthened through collaboration.
Riverside Sunrise Rotary partners with schools, youth organizations, veterans programs, senior centers, nonprofit agencies, local businesses, fellow Rotary clubs, and other community groups.
These partnerships help us avoid duplicating services and allow us to respond to needs identified by organizations already working directly with vulnerable populations.
We believe some of the strongest community solutions happen when people and organizations combine their resources, expertise, and compassion.
Health, Dignity, and Basic Needs
Many of our projects address basic necessities that can easily be taken for granted: food, clothing, shoes, hygiene products, school supplies, hydration, and access to healthy meals.
For someone experiencing financial hardship, these items can represent much more than their monetary value.
A warm sweatshirt can help a child feel comfortable and included at school.
Fresh groceries can help a senior stretch a limited monthly income.
A hearty meal and well-stocked pantry can provide stability for a veteran rebuilding after homelessness.
Clean clothing, socks, toiletries, and personal-care products can restore comfort and dignity.
By meeting these practical needs, we also help reduce stress and create opportunities for people to focus on education, health, stability, and connection.
Leadership and Service
As part of Rotary International, Riverside Sunrise Rotary also promotes leadership, ethical service, fellowship, and community engagement.
We encourage both adults and young people to see service not as a one-time activity, but as an ongoing responsibility to care for the communities in which we live.
Our club supports youth leadership programs, student service clubs, community volunteer opportunities, and projects that bring people of different ages and backgrounds together around a shared purpose.
Broader Humanitarian Work
In addition to our local service, Riverside Sunrise Rotary supports humanitarian efforts that improve health, education, and quality of life beyond Riverside.
Our members have participated in and supported projects involving healthcare access, international service, youth development, and other Rotary initiatives designed to address human needs locally and globally.
