Boulder Crest is a pioneering nonprofit organization that serves combat veterans and their family members, and first responders who are struggling with a range of mental health challenges. Boulder Crest’s focus is on training these men and women and their family members to live great lives, so they can transform times of deep struggle into profound strength and lifelong Posttraumatic Growth (PTG). Posttraumatic Growth is a decades-old science that focuses on ways in which people describe aspects of their life changing for the better in the aftermath of traumatic events and experiences. This notion is best captured in the words of Nietzsche: “That which does not kill you makes you stronger.”
Boulder Crest owns and operates two five-star Posttraumatic Growth Academies: Boulder Crest Arizona and Boulder Crest Virginia. Our Arizona location is 45 miles south of Tucson, on the only privately-owned land in the Coronado National Forest and our Virginia location is located 60 miles west of Washington DC, in the town of Bluemont, situated in the heart of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Both locations are open to active-duty, reserve, and National Guard personnel, veterans, and family members, including Gold Star families. Veterans who are discharged must be honorably discharged. All of our PATHH programs and Family R&R stays are offered and delivered free of charge to those we serve. Across both our Arizona and Virginia locations, we serve approximately 1,400 personnel annually, and have hosted guests from every state as well as overseas locations.
In addition, Boulder Crest operates the Boulder Crest Institute for Posttraumatic Growth, which is dedicated to the development, delivery, study, and operational scale of Posttraumatic Growth-based solutions, including suicidality, anxiety, depression, and PTSD. Today, the Institute manages four areas of Boulder Crest’s operations – Training, Technology, Research and Evaluation, and Social and Policy Change – to include all PATHH curriculum and research efforts, as well as the training associated with scaling our PATHH programs nationally, while also working with the active duty forces and Department of Veterans Affairs to transform their approach to mental health.
