We provide hope and dignity, offer opportunity, and stand as a resource for neighbors who are in need of compassion and a helping hand. Many of our guests are homeless, don’t know where their next meal will come from, can’t provide winter clothing for their growing children, or don’t own a toothbrush. From offering clothing to a mom and her children, to serving hot meals to hungry veterans, we strive to better the lives of those in need through our services at Lazarus Table and Lazarus Boutique. Our services go above and beyond hot meals and items of need, as we strive to help our neighbors get back on their feet and live an independent life that they deserve. We have social workers on-site who provide access to valuable resources, so that our guests have all the tools they need to thrive.
Lazarus Ministries KC was founded in 1996, serving 10,000 meals in our first year. As the needs of our community have grown, our vision has expanded to fill in those gaps. In 2009, Lazarus Ministries KC became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in order to better position the organization to expand the programs serving our community. After 20 years downtown, we moved to Linwood United Church in 2007 to continue to make an impact on the lives of our community members. While our mission remains the same, with the help of our dedicated volunteers and generous supporters, our services have extended beyond providing hot meals.
Programs include:
Pearl's Cafe - serves more than 10,000 meals every year to homeless and hungry individuals in the Kansas City community. We seek, not only to provide warm meals, but to offer a sense of community to our guests.
Lazarus Boutique - continues the mission of providing basic needs with compassion. The boutique is open every Saturday, in conjunction with lunch, to provide items of need such as clothing, personal hygiene products, and household items.
Sojourner Clinic - Lazarus Ministries KC is in partnership with The Sojourner Health Clinic to provide outpatient care to our community members in need. Managed by UMKC Medical Students, the free clinic provides outpatient care to our community on Saturday’s in conjunction with Lazarus Table and Boutique.
