Military Warriors Support Foundation is a non-profit organization, based out of San Antonio, TX that provides support for our nation's combat wounded veterans who are transitioning out of the military. This is a fragile time for these Heroes where many encounter significant struggles. Housing is a critical need for these families. To ease in their transition, MWSF offers our Homes4WoundedHeroes (H4WH) and Homes4GoIdStars (H4GS) programs.
Through H4WH and H4GS, we donate 100% mortgage free homes to wounded heroes and Surviving Spouses of Heroes who have fallen in combat. The H4WH Program began in 2010 with H4GS officially launching in early 2013. To date, we have awarded nearly 900 homes, in all 50 states, to wounded heroes, Gold Star spouses and their families!
What sets our program apart from other home donation programs is that our Foundation retains the deed of the home for the first 3 years. During this period, we provide 3 years of mentoring for the family. Each recipient is given a family and financial mentor to provide them guidance to develop the skills necessary to become happy and successful homeowners. Their Mentor serves as their MWSF primary point of contact. They are there to help organize them for their move, ensure they get settled into their new home, and will continue to stay in regular contact with the family to ensure everything with them, and their home, is going smoothly. Their Mentor also guides them through a structured homeownership and financial literacy program; including monthly sessions to review budgeting, savings, and debt repayment.
We cannot achieve all of this without your help! We need assistance with cost of vetting and placing a family in the home and supporting them through their 3-year Mentoring Program. The sponsorship cost of $35,000 will do just that. It will support the costs associated with processing a family into the house and will support the cost of the Mentoring Program, which is vital to the family's long-term success.
