7 Star uses the healing power of the horse to serve our community, provide healing for those who need it with integrity and love. We provide therapeutic riding and equine-assisted psychotherapy.
Therapeutic Riding uses the rhythmic, repetitive motions of the horse to improve the client's balance, posture, flexibility, endurance, and muscle strength. Sessions work to improve the client's ability to communicate, task management, cognitive skills, self-esteem, confidence, and motivation.
EAP (Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy) is an experiential therapy that uses horses in the therapeutic process instead of traditional "sit-down & talk" therapy. The horse helps the client learn about themselves and others by participating in carefully chosen physical activities with the client. During the session, the client is actively engaged by the posing of questions, being curious, investigating, experimenting, solving problems, assuming responsibility, being creative, and constructing their own meaning about their experience. The results of learning are personal and form the basis for future experience and learning. Clients are engaged intellectually, emotionally, socially, soulfully, and/or physically, which affirms to them that the learning tasks are authentic.
