A HAND UP RESOURCES AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH

A Hand Up Resources and Community Outreach is a grassroots, women-led nonprofit serving communities across the Kansas City metropolitan area and beyond. The organization was founded after the loss of a loved one to an accidental overdose and has grown into a trusted source of prevention education, lifesaving training, workforce development, and community support.

Our programs address both immediate safety needs and the deeper barriers that can keep individuals and families from moving forward. We provide overdose-response education, naloxone awareness, fentanyl and drink-spiking prevention, Good Samaritan law education, First Aid/CPR/AED certification, mental health awareness, and career-readiness support.

Through our Community Responder and Youth Responder initiatives, participants gain recognized certifications, practical workplace skills, confidence, self-worth, and pathways to employment or additional training. We also support seniors, veterans, returning citizens, young adults, parents, and families through resource navigation, emergency assistance, education, and trusted community partnerships.

A Hand Up believes that one practical opportunity can become the spark that changes a person’s direction. Donations help provide free or reduced-cost certifications, training equipment, educational materials, transportation support, prevention supplies, and direct assistance to individuals who may otherwise be unable to access these resources.

Our goal is not to provide temporary help alone, but to equip people with the knowledge, skills, connections, and confidence needed to protect lives, strengthen families, pursue opportunity, and become leaders in their communities.
