Born from the Bay Area's vibrant outdoor and free-party culture, Sunset grew alongside a community that believed music could create a different kind of gathering—one rooted in openness, self-expression, inclusivity, and connection rather than exclusivity. For more than three decades, we have carried that spirit forward, producing hundreds of outdoor music gatherings throughout the Bay Area, building a multigenerational community of people who value connection, inclusivity, and a non-judgmental atmosphere. What began as a gathering of friends has grown into a diverse community that spans generations, professions, cultures, and backgrounds. Families, longtime supporters, and new generations of music lovers continue to find their way to Sunset. We are proud to create spaces where people can slow down, connect with one another, dance, and experience the simple joy of being together.
Over the years, Sunset Sound System has expanded beyond its outdoor music picnics into a range of connected experiences, including Sunset Boat Parties, Sunset Sound Meditations, and our multi-day Sunset Campout.
