The Sgt. Anthony Patrick Muhlstadt Defender Ruck is our annual community 5K, ruck, and 2.2-mile walk in St. Petersburg, Florida, created in honor of Sgt. Anthony Patrick Muhlstadt, a U.S. Marine who died by suicide while serving. This year’s event is June 6th at 7700 16th Street North, St. Petersburg, FL. It brings active-duty service members, veterans, families, and civilians together to take suicide prevention “to the streets” and normalize conversations around mental health and help-seeking. Our local active-duty Marines help lead the morning—setting the tone, supporting participants, and reminding our community that no one has to fight alone.
Where the money goes:
Proceeds directly support military suicide prevention through ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) workshops for active-duty and veterans, helping equip leaders and peers with practical, life-saving intervention skills. Funds also provide direct support and resources to service members, veterans, and families who need extra care—such as emergency assistance, wellness support, and care packages for deployed troops. Every dollar helps expand training, strengthen protective factors, and deliver timely support to those who serve.
