Headspin is a monthly 1 vs. 1 All Styles dance battle held at Octopus Bar in Wallingford. It is free to attend AND free to enter this competition. Each dancer goes out and dances against another dancer and the DJ picks a random song for them to dance to. Each dancer gets one round and at the end of the battle the crowd decides who is the winner by clapping and cheering when the MC holds their hands over each competitor’s head. There is also a secret style judge, selected beforehand, who picks the ultimate style winner, an individual who showcases themselves and their unique style during the evening. The main winning competitor for the 1 vs. 1 competition receives a $150 cash prize and a beautiful trophy. Each month we highlight unique individuals in the community to showcase either solo or against a fellow dancer of equal skill and style, allowing an overlap for the public to interact, learn and be welcomed into the dance community.
