ABOVE THE RIM

Above the Rim is a community-focused nonprofit organization based in Vancouver, Washington, dedicated to empowering youth and young adults through the game of basketball. Our mission is to use basketball as a vehicle to engage, educate, and elevate individuals in our community—both on and off the court.

Working in close partnership with the Vancouver Volcanoes professional basketball team, we provide meaningful mentorship and hands-on opportunities that extend far beyond sports. Our programs are designed to build life skills, encourage entrepreneurship, foster financial literacy, and promote healthy lifestyles.

What We Do:

Youth Mentorship & Basketball Clinics: We host basketball clinics and camps for youth in the Vancouver area, focusing on skill development, teamwork, confidence-building, and leadership. These events are led by professional athletes and coaches who serve as mentors, providing valuable guidance and inspiration.

Entrepreneurship & Financial Literacy Programs: We offer youth-centered entrepreneurship education through our partnership in Young Makers Market, where participants learn to create, market, and sell their own products and ideas. Our financial literacy workshops equip young people with critical tools to manage money, budget, and build a secure financial future.

Career Pathways in Sports & Beyond: Above the Rim provides networking and professional development opportunities for aspiring athletes, coaches, media professionals, and event organizers. Whether it's coaching, production, marketing, or business management, our platform helps individuals pursue careers in and around professional sports.

Professional Player Development: We support current and former professional basketball players by offering pathways into coaching, youth development, community engagement, and professional networking—helping them transition into fulfilling second careers.

Community Partnerships: Above the Rim proudly collaborates with local charities, schools, and other organizations that share our commitment to youth development and community wellness. Together, we amplify our collective impact across the Vancouver area.
