The Walk for Life & Remembrance Lantern Walk is an annual community event hosted by The Brandon Caserta Foundation that brings together service members, veterans, military families, Gold Star families, first responders, and community members for an evening dedicated to remembrance, healing, hope, and suicide prevention awareness.
This event was created to honor the lives of those we have lost, support those who may be struggling today, and remind individuals and families that they are not alone.
The Brandon Caserta Foundation was established in memory of Navy Airman (AE3) Brandon Caserta, whose death by suicide in 2018 inspired the creation of The Brandon Act. Since then, the Foundation has worked tirelessly to raise awareness about military and veteran suicide, advocate for systemic change, support military families, and provide resources to those in need.
The Walk for Life & Remembrance Lantern Walk reflects the heart of that mission.
Each year, participants gather carrying lanterns that symbolize remembrance, hope, and the light that loved ones continue to bring into our lives. Throughout the evening, attendees honor family members, friends, battle buddies, service members, veterans, first responders, and others whose lives have left a lasting impact.
This year's theme is:
"Who Are You Walking For?"
Participants are encouraged to reflect on the person they are honoring and share their story through a variety of meaningful remembrance activities.
Event features include:
Lantern Walk
Participants carry lanterns as they walk together in a visible display of remembrance, support, and community.
Remembrance Ribbons
Attendees select ribbons representing a loved one, their personal journey, or their commitment to supporting mental health awareness and suicide prevention.
Wall of Remembrance
Families and loved ones may submit photographs and tributes that are displayed during the event, ensuring that those being honored are remembered and celebrated.
Memory Wall
Participants have the opportunity to write messages, share memories, and recognize the individuals for whom they are walking.
Remembrance Ceremony
A special ceremony recognizes the lives and legacies of those who have been lost while offering hope to those who continue to struggle.
Community Connection
The event provides an opportunity for attendees to connect with others who have experienced loss, support someone in need, or simply stand in solidarity with the mission of suicide prevention.
The goal of the Walk for Life & Remembrance Lantern Walk is not only to remember those we have lost, but also to inspire conversations about mental health, encourage individuals to seek help when needed, and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health care.
Funds raised through this event directly support the mission of The Brandon Caserta Foundation, including:
• Suicide prevention and mental health awareness initiatives
• Educational programs and outreach
• Advocacy efforts to improve military mental health policies
• Family support and resource navigation
• Family Travel Assistance for service members experiencing crises
• Community awareness campaigns
• Remembrance and healing programs for military families
Every lantern carried, every ribbon worn, and every story shared helps create a future where no one suffers in silence and every individual knows that help is available.
The Walk for Life & Remembrance Lantern Walk is more than an event—it is a community coming together to honor lives, support one another, and create hope.
Remembering Those We've Lost. Walking for Those Still Here.
