Our community thrives off community togetherness, involvement, and wellbeing. Believing that a community that comes together frequently, in common spaces, with common goals will thrive and grow in health and mindset. The Committee wants to provide the town, its citizens and surrounding area the ability to reset and enjoy the life around them. In doing so Improving the mind and body of individuals of all ages. With the Centennial Park Revitalization Project, we aim to provide safe and reliable playground equipment for the children, a public green space for the community to gather, and a more accessible area to enjoy for individuals of all ages and disabilities. The goal is to provide this remodeled space with the focus on inclusion and common ground. With in our plans to revitalize the park we intend to include a pavilion that is ground level for all to access, as well as a bandshell to where anyone from age 5 to 85 can gather and enjoy the events that will come from the park revitalization. The land that this park sits on is owned by the Town of Laona and has the same elevation as the street, covered with grass and has bathrooms that are handicap accessible. Currently there is only a small gazebo and playground equipment in this park. Our committee is wanting to expand the potential also including handicap seating, such as picnic tables and benches. Inclusion is our number one key when organizing the new structure. The Town of Laona has an aging population, citizens that raised their families and worked in the area who are now retired and continue to provide our community with knowledge and support for their children and grandchildren. The Laona Beautifying Committee's moto is to "make the place we live and love beautiful for all", we intend to include our large population of senior citizens in this plan. Hoping to promote children, parents, grandparents, and caregivers to come together in one common space to enjoy each other and the place they call home. The Centennial Park Revitalization Project will use the existing park area which is roughly 5000 square feet and will promote inclusion for the citizens of Laona, regardless of age or disability. It will be an easily accessible and versatile for all.
The Committees goal is to bring our community together, making sure that we are planning activities across the board for all the residents in the Laona community. We want to continue to provide a place or setting where people can come together with their families and friends from all platforms, backgrounds, and ages to make the Laona Community vibrant and hole once again. With the Centennial Park Revitalization, we will be able to promote, plan and implement more well-rounded, inclusive, and community-based opportunities for all Laona and other surrounding communities. With the addition of the pavilion, bandshell, and seating the committee expects increased activities at the park, not only from our committee but from the town and surrounding organizations. We hope that with the additions it will increase the opportunities for learning, social interaction, expecting people to want to utilize the space for the things they are interested in offering the town of Laona and its citizens.
The committee has the intention with this park to draw people to our community, we hope that the revitalization efforts to the park and physical improvements that we set out to accomplish will be a large draw to individuals outside of the Laona area. We also hope that community members and visitors will keep grow and expand events in the town, with the enhancement of the park we think that people will stay and play more in our town than traveling for experiences. The additions to this space will give all of people that wish to use the park another space to hold parties, events, meetings, and gatherings of any sort. The Playground equipment that is to be replaced in the park is currently the highlight for many children, and with new and safe equipment the park will be able to provide a safe space for all children to play for many years to come. We hope that with your support we can make this space another wonderful addition to the Town of Laona, for anyone who wishes to use it. This project intends to gather more people in one common space with the intent that it will bring people from outside the area that would typically come to Laona, increasing the diversity in our town.
