Rebuilding Together Inc. is one of the nation's leading non-profit organizations working to preserve affordable housing, homeownership and revitalize communities by providing critical home repairs at no cost. Rebuilding Together Inc has 120 active affiliates nationwide. Each year, the affiliates, with its corporate and community partners and nearly 100,000 volunteers, complete about 10,000 rebuild projects. Rebuilding Together City of the Angels' mission is to assist low-income seniors and disabled homeowners in rehabilitating or modify their homes to improve safety, accessibility, and mobility features. Making it possible for household members, especially seniors, to live in their own homes longer. The repairs include fall and fire prevention, accessibility modifications, clean up, and weatherization. In certain cases, larger repairs, including stairlifts, bath and shower modifications, roof, major plumbing, and electrical improvements, are available. Too often, low-moderate income homeowners struggle to maintain their homes as the cost of food, medicine, utilities, and other essential needs increase. The funding for programs and services that bridge the cost-of-living gaps continues to diminish. As a result, the homeowner chooses to defer the repairs. The delay in making repairs increased cost and further compromise the safety and soundness of the home. When the repairs can no longer be ignored, the homeowners often turn to high cost or predatory options. As the home deteriorates, so does the dignity of the homeowner. This loss of pride of homeownership is often replaced by fear, embarrassment, and isolation. Rebuilding Together of the City of Angels Organization Mission Our mission is to repair homes, revitalize communities, and rebuild lives. We accomplish our mission by preserving homes and homeownership and revitalizing neighborhoods in Los Angeles County through a continuum of programs and services, including home repairs and renovations that make the homes of low-moderate income homeowners safer, increase accessibility and healthy. Our services are targeted to serve seniors and households with disabled or mobility challenged members.
