Sonoran Desert Sanctuary Campground

by ANDERSON ARROYO FOUNDATION

The Sonoran Desert Sanctuary is a wilderness retreat center being constructed to facilitate programs for veterans and other trauma survivors who suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Moral Injury. The Sanctuary sits on 330 acres of Sonoran Desert adjacent to Alamo Lake. Our goals for the land include rehabilitation, a botanical garden, and sustainable aquaponic container farming to support the retreats. Our first project, the main campground to house retreat participants and volunteers, is in its final stages of completion. We have already received over $80,000 in construction materials, tents, yurts, and infrastructure. We are looking to raise an additional $40,000 to complete the restrooms, raise the yurts and build a large group BBQ area.
