Global Game Jam is a world-wide game jam that occurs simultaneously over a single weekend or 48-hour period at hundreds of sites all across the globe. Tens of thousands of people participate in this annual event and each year thousands of games are made.
GGJ Sacramento is the Sacramento region's site and we've hosted that site for 9 years now, making 2024 our 10th anniversary of running this event. Sacramento developers have made 57 games in that time and we started to capture the event on video with the help of the locally produced GPU the Show. We stream this show all across the planet with the help of the international GGJ organization to share our experience and promote Sacramento and our local creative talents to the rest of the world. This event is always free for participants and donations to this event will help with our costs to run it and may include venue fees, equipment, staff, or meals for participants. In-kind donations are also welcome and could include food or refreshments for participants or in-kind donations that could be given away as prizes or gift bags for the teams.
