Healing Reins of Kentucky’s mission is to assist individuals with special needs in reaching their full potential through interaction with horses. Equine Assisted Services (EAS) contribute positively to the cognitive, educational, physical, emotional and social well-being of individuals with and without special needs. EAS provides benefits in the areas of health, education, sport and recreation. Healing Reins provides this experience for individuals with special needs by offering Adaptive/Therapeutic Riding and Horsemanship. Our Equine Assisted Learning and Mobile Experience offer services for those with or without special needs, serving even more individuals in our community to promote and strengthen their educational goals and physical and mental health.
The goal of EAS is to assist children and adults in reaching their goals while engaging the horse as a partner. Such outcomes might be to improve speech, increase balance/muscle tone, improve cardio health, improve fine and gross motor skills, improve reading and vocabulary, promote independence, or encourage social interaction. These types of services also provide for the development of social skills, self-esteem and trust for participants. Research shows that individuals who participate in EAS can experience physical, cognitive and emotional benefits.
