Operation Steel Warrior is a combined effort among various divisions of Nucor Steel Corporation to assist the Gary Sinise Foundation and their R.I.S.E. program in building ‘Smart’ homes for disabled veterans. A ‘Smart’ home is a specially adapted, unique, home specifically made for that particular veteran. No two homes are alike and they are modified to account to that veterans injuries and challenges. This effort is funded through employee efforts at participating divisions. Each year we endeavor to assist a new, deserving, veteran through our combined efforts. The funds collected at the end of each year are sent to the GSF in the name of the sponsored veteran. The OSW program began in 2013 and in the ensuing years has raised over $2 million dollars for a series of deserving veterans.
