HOW TO SHOW YOUR SUPPORT:
Help Me Help You seeks to raise $20,000 annually for our core essential food services benefiting over 60,000 Long Beach clients (children, families, single mothers, seniors, veterans, persons with disabilities). We are dedicated to uplifting homeless and low-income residents by increasing access to free food, public benefits, and economic security. Our free essential services reduce hunger and poverty, improve nutrition and health, boost family economic security, and can transform lives from homelessness to self-sufficiency.
OUR CORE SERVICES INCLUDE:
1. Nutrition Knights Grocery Grab N Go - free weekly groceries provided via 11 locations (8 school & 3 community locations) and Back to School Healthy Habits nutrition education program for participating elementary schools. Grocery Grab N Go/food pantry services are evidence-based resources that are scientifically proven to combine hunger relief with nutrition information and healthy eating opportunities for individuals and families with low incomes.
2. Long Beach Food Pantry Delivery – an Evidence-Based Program providing free weekly nutritious groceries home delivered to over 500 seniors in need. Community Preventive Services recommends home-delivered meal services to adults aged 60 years and older, living independently to reduce malnutrition.
3. Enrollment Services for CalFresh, MediCal, General Relief, and Social Security Benefits. Clients receive a needs analysis by our Benefits Access Support experts to give them free enrollment assistance to these vital services and links to housing and other requirements.
HMHY requests your support of our annual campaign, by providing a donation amount of your choice. ABOUT EMPLOYEE MATCHING GIFTS PROGRAM – TEAM SUPPORT
We offer a Matching Gifts Program, providing employers with the opportunity to match their employees’ donations made to HMHY. Employers may match employee donations or more and even provide community service grants. Through teamwork, the dream works to make a big difference to our Long Beach community in need.
