by CONVOY OF HOPE

April 12, 2024 | 11:13 a.m.
Yesterday, Convoy of Hope distributed essential relief supplies in Slidell, Louisiana, in wake of the tornadoes that ripped through the area earlier this week. Families received tarps, totes, cleaning supplies, water, and more to help them as they assess damage and begin to rebuild.

More loads of relief supplies will leave Convoy’s warehouse this weekend.

Additionally, another severe weather system moved through Lake Charles, Louisiana, yesterday. Relief supplies are en route to the area.

Earlier this morning, a severe weather system moved through the Gulf Coast region and spun off tornadoes, causing widespread damage in Slidell, Louisiana, with winds as high as 140 mph. Residents reported minor injuries.

“We haven’t seen this much damage since Hurricane Katrina,” Slidell Mayor Greg Cromer told Fox 8.

Convoy of Hope is in communication with partners on the ground to assess the needs of the community. A load of essential supplies — including tarps, totes, cleaning supplies, water, and sports drinks — are en route to the affected area.
