Philippe Park Living Shoreline Phase II

by KEEP PINELLAS BEAUTIFUL INC

Volunteers are needed to assist with the placement of 30-pound oyster bags and to help plant marsh grasses. Volunteer spots are limited and require registration. There will be two shifts of volunteers for each activity option so that social distancing precautions can be maintained by limiting the number of volunteers working at a time.

Minors 8+ are welcome if accompanied by a legal guardian at all times. All participants will need to fill out a Liability Release Form in order to participate which can be emailed to cjoyner@pinellascounty.org or brought with you the day of the event.

The GOALS of this project are:

*To improve water quality and provide additional aquatic habitat for wading birds, fish, and other organisms

*To provide extra protection for the shoreline

*To educate park visitors about living shorelines

Funding for this project is provided by Pinellas County and Tampa Bay Estuary Restoration Fund grant.

On the day of the event, please remember to wear appropriate clothing that can get dirty and wet, and sturdy closed-toe shoes.

For questions regarding the event contact Pinellas County Environmental Management at 727-464-8762.
