Samaritan’s Purse is providing sustainable sources of clean water, along with sanitation facilities and hygiene education. In each community where Samaritan’s Purse works, we implement clean water solutions that are specific to the needs and geography of the region. In Haiti, we are protecting natural springs and installing miles of piping to create water access within communities. In the Cambodian jungle, Samaritan’s Purse is teaching families to build household water filters. In the most remote stretches of the South Sudanese desert, we are drilling deep borehole wells that serve the needs of thousands of people.
Along with each clean water solution, Samaritan’s Purse provides essential education, teaching families and communities to maintain and protect their water source, securing an abundant supply for years to come. The positive effects of these efforts ripple outward, improving the wellbeing of entire communities. Instead of spending hours a day walking to retrieve water, women have more time to care for their children and earn additional income. Farmers have plenty of water for irrigating their crops, resulting in a plentiful harvest. Children who were absent from school due to water-borne illness are able to attend regularly, receiving a complete education.
