Patriotic Productions is a non-profit 501 c. 3. organization that was founded in 2011, with a mission of honoring the United States military and sharing that opportunity with others who wish to do the same. Patriotic Productions has organized and raised funds that have taken 1,500 Nebraska World War II Veterans to see their World War II Memorial in Washington D.C. in 2008-09. In October, 2013, 135 Korea War Veterans enjoyed an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. and in March, 2014, 462 Korea War Veterans were flown by private charter jets on their Honor Flight. In 2016 and 2017, 502 Vietnam combat veterans and 650 Vietnam veterans, respectively, went on their flights to D.C. And finally, flights in 2018 and 2019 took female veterans and Purple Heart veterans to D.C., respectively. Total funds raised for these Honor Flights in Nebraska exceeded $3,000,000 and were donated by generous donors throughout the state, as the veterans who participated came from over 250 communities and from every corner of the state.
The Honor Flights spurred an interest in creating more events and opportunities to honor our country's veterans and their families.
The founders were inspired to create "Remembering Our Fallen" in November, 2010. Their eternal hope is to honor the memory of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, to provide comfort to friends and family of the Fallen, and to remind others of the tremendous cost paid by some. Its legacy will be that these men and women will never be forgotten, and that their names will be remembered and spoken. The inspiration for this project came about after reading a story in the Omaha World-Herald about a father whose pain and grief were even greater four years after his son, SGT Joshua Ford, had died in Iraq. Why?
Because he felt that his son had been forgotten…and the war was not even over yet.
To that end, the founders decided to do something about it. In November 2010, with the backing of the Omaha World-Herald newspaper, and financial support of several sponsors, including Bellevue University, “Remembering Our Fallen” was created. This memorial included photos of the Fallen who had died in The War on Terror since September 11, 2001, and called Nebraska home. Over 325 family members attended the opening event, some driving as long as seven hours one way. Another 750 people attended the exhibit’s public opening and ceremony, and the exhibit has been traveling weekly throughout Nebraska for more than seven years.
Soon after the unveiling of this first display, Bellevue University asked Patriotic Productions to create memorials for other states. After realizing the impact this first photo memorial display made upon not only the families of The Fallen, but also the general public, it was agreed this project should be completed in other states to remind people of the cost of freedom while, hopefully, helping to lessen the grief of the families.
In September of 2017, a National Memorial was unveiled at the foot of The Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., and in 2020, a 2nd identical National Memorial was created. Together, these memorials have stopped in over 35 states and almost 150 communities since late 2017. Each Memorial now includes personal and military photos of over 5,200 of our Nation's Fallen.
