Senior 2 Senior: — From The Classroom to The Community

by COVERED HEAD2TOE

Seniors 2 Seniors is a heart-centered, intergenerational community service initiative designed to connect high school seniors with senior citizens in their neighborhoods. The project empowers youth to engage in meaningful acts of service while fostering mutual respect, understanding, and support between generations.

Participating students will volunteer weekly to assist senior citizens with essential tasks, including: Lawn Care: Cutting grass, raking leaves, and other light yard work to maintain safe and pleasant home environments for seniors.

Grocery Shopping Assistance: Helping seniors shop for groceries or picking up and delivering essential items for those with mobility or transportation challenges.
Wellness Checks: Conducting friendly home visits or scheduled check-in calls to ensure the well-being of elderly residents, offer companionship, and report any concerns.

Tech Support & Errands: Assisting with basic technology needs (e.g., setting up phones or tablets), organizing mail, or running small errands.

This project not only helps meet the daily needs of senior citizens but also teaches young people about empathy, responsibility, and the value of giving back to their community. The initiative will be coordinated in partnership with local schools, senior centers, churches, and neighborhood organizations to identify elderly residents who would benefit from support. By bridging generational gaps, Seniors Helping Seniors cultivates a stronger, more connected community where all generations thrive together.
