The Salvation Army arrived in Kansas and Missouri more than 130 years ago to feed the hungry, clothe the poor, and bring hope to those in need. The Salvation Army works to assist those in need, 365 days a year, without discrimination.
The Salvation Army focuses on four primary areas: 1.) at-risk children, 2.) struggling families, 3.) vulnerable adults, and 4.) emergency and disaster services.
The Salvation Army offers social services at twenty-three Corps Community Centers located across Kansas and Western Missouri. Programs include emergency assistance, food pantries, hot meals, homeless shelters, youth programs, summer camps, Veteran’s services, Hispanic ministries, senior citizen services, correctional services, education including GED and ESL, mobile feeding programs, and seasonal programs, particularly at Christmas. The Pathway of Hope program moves families from crisis to stability. Freestanding programs include Three Trails Camp and Retreat Center, and the Adult Rehabilitation Program located in Kansas City, Missouri.
