Donka is a 36-year-old, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in January 1987. Donka’s mission “empowering lives for persons with disabilities through technology” is to provide comprehensive computer training and job placement services to facilitate the development of immediately useful skills for today’s job market and higher education.

HISTORY
Donka was founded in 1987 by Don Van Haveren, a retired business executive, who was volunteering at the DuPage Care Center (DPCC) in Wheaton, Illinois. Many of the residents with whom Don worked were disabled and often isolated by their conditions.
