Founded in 1979, the mission of SCIA is to serve as a comprehensive resource center for individuals who have been personally affected by paralysis, those working in related fields, and other interested persons. The mission also includes working to prevent new injuries from happening. SCIA seeks to fulfill this mission through a combination of services including Information and Referral, Peer Support, Education and Injury Prevention.

RESPONSIBILITIES Except for one full-time employee and one part-time employee, all work of the association is done on a volunteer basis by the Board of Directors, a Medical & Scientific Advisory Board and other persons interested in the cause of USAIC.
