The Legacy Riders Equestrian Foundation is dedicated to creating opportunities for individuals to experience the powerful connection between horses and people. Through meaningful interaction with horses, participants can develop confidence, emotional resilience, responsibility, and a deeper connection to the natural world.
Many individuals who benefit from equestrian experiences face barriers that make access difficult. These barriers may include financial hardship, disabilities, geographic isolation, or aging out of programs that once provided support. The Legacy Riders Equestrian Foundation works to help bridge these gaps by expanding access to equestrian experiences for those who may not otherwise have the opportunity.
Our programs focus on underserved youth and individuals, including people with disabilities, those facing financial or geographic challenges, foster youth transitioning into adulthood, and others who may lack access to programs that provide meaningful engagement with horses. While many programs in the equestrian world focus on children, the need for connection, confidence, and support does not end at a specific age. Our foundation strives to create opportunities for individuals who may have lost access to programs after aging out of traditional services but still benefit greatly from interaction with horses.
Through partnerships with local barns, community supporters, and volunteers, we provide opportunities for participants to learn about horses, experience horseback riding, and engage in hands-on activities such as grooming, groundwork, and horse care. These experiences help build confidence, foster responsibility, and create a sense of accomplishment for participants.
In addition to individual equestrian experiences, the Legacy Riders Equestrian Foundation hosts community educational events that introduce families and community members to horse care, barn safety, and the equestrian lifestyle. These events help raise awareness, build community connections, and support the expansion of programs that serve individuals who may not otherwise have access to horses.
The foundation believes that meaningful interaction with horses can have a lasting positive impact on a person’s emotional well-being, confidence, and personal growth. By expanding access to these experiences, we aim to create opportunities that inspire hope, connection, and empowerment.
