At any given time, AAE cares for about 50 horses. The average horse eats about one and a half bales per week or about six bales a month. On average, that's about $60 per month, just for hay costs. They also need hoof care every other month, $50 per trim, and dental care once a year, $100 per dental. Add deworming, psyllium treatments, and vaccines, the costs add up to more than $100 per month per horse. That doesn't include special feed or supplements or daily medications.
