Capital Campaign for Comprehensive Psychiatric Facility: A Vision for Healing and Hope

CAN Behavioral Health is launching a capital campaign to raise funds for the development of a state-of-the-art, comprehensive psychiatric facility designed to provide holistic mental health and substance use treatment for adults and adolescents. This facility will offer a range of services, including residential treatment, outpatient care, and long-term supportive living, with a focus on holistic therapies and wellness programs to foster healing, recovery, and personal growth.

We are seeking to acquire 100 acres of land along the Interstate 10 corridor in either Harris County or Chambers County, with the hope that the land will be donated. However, we are currently seeking seed money to purchase the land and kickstart the development of this transformative project. The estimated cost for this facility is over $250 million.

The Need:
Mental health and substance use issues are on the rise in our community, and many individuals, particularly veterans, women, men, and youth, lack access to the comprehensive care they need. While outpatient and community-based services are essential, there is a growing demand for residential care and long-term supportive housing for individuals who require more intensive and continuous support. Additionally, there is a critical need for specialized services that focus on both the mental and physical well-being of clients, addressing the root causes of substance abuse, trauma, and mental health challenges.

Our vision is to build a facility that will not only treat the symptoms but also provide a nurturing environment for long-term recovery and personal transformation.

The Facility:
The proposed facility will provide a range of services, including:

1. Residential Mental Health & Substance Use Treatment: This will offer both short-term and long-term residential care for adults, adolescents, and veterans dealing with substance abuse and mental health disorders, such as depression, PTSD, anxiety, and trauma.

2. Outpatient Services: Our outpatient treatment program will support individuals who do not require 24-hour care but still need structured, intensive treatment.

3. Long-Term Supportive Living: We will offer long-term housing for those in recovery, ensuring they have a safe, stable environment while they rebuild their lives and gain the skills needed for independent living.

4. Holistic Therapies: In addition to traditional therapy, the facility will feature:
- Equine Therapy and Pet Therapy for emotional healing
- Gardening and other nature-based activities to foster mindfulness and connection to the earth
- Yoga and other Therapeutic Sports to support physical and mental wellness
- Cooking Classes to build healthy habits and provide life skills that will improve the overall quality of life for clients

5. Veterans' Program: A dedicated program for veterans will provide specialized support for those dealing with PTSD, substance abuse, and the unique challenges they face when transitioning to civilian life.

6. Women’s and Men’s Programs: Tailored services to address the specific needs of women and men dealing with mental health and substance abuse issues.

7. Youth Program: Specialized services for adolescents to help them cope with anxiety, depression, bullying, and trauma, while offering a safe space for emotional and psychological development.

Once the land is secured, we will move forward with construction of the facility, with an estimated cost of over $250 million.
