The Woodring Wall of Honor and Veteran’s Park story line is the guiding vision for the design of the park: “All gave some…Some gave all, they left their families and homes with purpose to serve our Country … The primary goal of our Veteran’s Park is to reflect the “Veteran’s Journey: life before, during, and after service”. Veteran’s need rebirth and healing. Our park provides that. The goal is to continue our mission to grow our park which is designed for reflection and celebration – with bold, unique, and captivating exhibits – including the Vietnam Memorial Wall. It is a place where veterans can gather…and where every visitor can share the moving tribute of a grateful state, honoring those to whom our nation owes its freedom. We will address the needs of veterans through the exhibits, programs and events held at the Woodring Wall of Honor. This park is designed to serve a variety of purposes – as a regional and national attraction, a city park and a distinctive setting for military ceremonies. The Woodring Wall of Honor has expanded its mission to include an Educational Center and non lending library which will assist teachers, veterans and home school educators to vital resources and materials.
The target groups for our park are veterans, parents, educators and children not only in the State of Oklahoma but in the five surrounding states. Working with community relations directors for the school districts, a sizable audience is anticipated for internet training, educational tours and summer programs. Teachers, parents and students are interested in developing Internet research skills in order to be competitive in today’s world. There are limited computers available within the school districts and no comprehensive instructional program are in place. Our website assists us with the promotion of the park and events, provides a site for educators to download teaching materials and honors those who provide our freedoms.
