The scholarship program began in 2015, following the completion of a bronze sculpture of a Kaiser Student Nurse that was gifted to the Oakland Kaiser Permanente Medical Center. Left over funds from the campaign that commissioned the sculpture launched the scholarship program. Our primary source of income for the scholarships are individual donations. An annual corporate grant helps underwrite the cost of maintaining the program so that all donations go directly to scholarships.
Our aspiration is to keep the legacy of the Kaiser Foundation School of Nursing relevant and alive through the distribution of nursing scholarships.
