Giving Tuesday

by SYRACUSE COMMUNITY CHOIR INC

The Syracuse Community Choir is as vibrant as ever. We are experiencing a beautiful Fall here in Central New York and the choir is getting ready for our 39th Anniversary Winter Solstice Concert with the theme “SHARE THE HARVEST.”

In Braiding Sweetgrass, Robin Kimmerer talks about the indigenous principles of an “honorable harvest.” SHARING THE HARVEST is about gratitude and commitment to honoring our earth. She reminds us to take only what we need and leave some for others. In this spirit we consider others whose lives have been disrupted by extreme weather, homelessness, or violence. SHARING THE HARVEST also brings everyone closer to people who make good seeds and to farmworkers who work long hours to feed us.

This brings us back to you! Your generosity has allowed us to pursue our vision of an inclusive choir which promotes Peace and Social Justice through the music we sing and creates community by making sure “every voice is heard,” no matter their age, abilities and disabilities, musical talent, and more. Your generosity is needed to help us move forward into our 40th anniversary year, as our executive director and founder, Karen, passes the torch and others take up the work.

Here are some things you can do:

It’s GIVING TUESDAY! Please give generously through your company’s portal on Benevity.

Become a DONOR MEMBER of the Syracuse Community Choir. Donor Memberships are renewed annually and they come with generous rewards. Go to our website syracusecommunitychoir.org, and choose "Become a Donor Member" from the drop down menu under the "Support the Choir" link at the top. Member Benefits are described at the end of this document AND on our website.

SHARE THE HARVEST with us by VOLUNTEERING! We have opportunities in marketing, social media, outreach, fundraising, concert support, and, of course, SINGING. Go to our website syracusecommunitychoir.org, and choose "Volunteer with Us" from the drop down menu under the "Support the Choir" link at the top. Scroll down to fill out our "Volunteer Form Application." Someone from the choir will reach out to you and help you find the niche that fits your skill set and location! (YES, it IS possible to volunteer even if you live far away from Syracuse!)

COME JOIN US for our SHARE THE HARVEST Winter Solstice Concert, which will take place on Sunday, December 15th, at 4pm (EST), at St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral, 310 Montgomery St, Syracuse, NY. If you live far away, consider joining us online on FaceBook (https://www.facebook.com/syracusecommunitychoir/). It won’t be the same as “being there”, but it will still be a gift from us to you during this joyous giving season.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for choosing to support our small community organization that seeks to sustain a powerful voice in our community and shows that *indeed* EVERY VOICE IS HEARD! And that as a community, we CAN make a difference in this world by raising our voices together and showing our gratitude for the earth as we SHARE THE HARVEST.
